Visits to Hellenic HouseWASHINGTON, DC — On Oct. 4, 2016, the American Hellenic Institute (AHI) welcomed a visit by Deputy Defense Minister of Greece Dimitris Vitsas to the Hellenic House during his visit to Washington, DC. “We thank Deputy Defense Minister Vitsas for stopping by Hellenic House to meet with us,” President Nick Larigakis said. “We appreciated the opportunity to discuss important issues that affect U.S.-Greece relations.” The discussion focused on a wide array of topics, including: how AHI keeps Greece on the agenda of policymakers in Washington and AHI works on initiatives that serve to strengthen U.S. relations with Greece, in addition to discussing Greece’s military capabilities and the contributions of NSA Souda Bay to national security interests. AHI also shared its recently-released and updated “Greece: Valued Ally. Strategic Partner” Fact Sheet. AHI Board Member James Marketos, Legislative Director Georgea Polizos, and Athina Balta joined Larigakis at the meeting.
Member of Parliament Harry Theocharis visited AHI on Sept. 27, 2016. MP Theocharis, who recently started new political party called Democratic Responsibility, was joined by his advisor, Antonia Dimou. AHI Board Member Leon Andris and Legislative Director Polizos joined Larigakis at the meeting.
