AHI Releases Letter to Secretary Clinton Condemning Demolition of Church in Occupied Cyprus
WASHINGTON, DC —The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) released a letter it sent today to Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on the May 2, 2011 demolition of the Chapel of Saint Thekla, a 200-year-old Orthodox Christian church located in the village of Vokolida in Turkish-occupied Cyprus. The letter strongly condemns the demolition of the church and cites other recent instances of violations of religious freedom in Turkish-occupied Cyprus.
